Torre Annunziata. Delays, cancellations, lost luggage: it's something that happens often, especially in the summer when airports are crowded and flights to the most iconic international destinations are sold out.
Too bad the protagonists of yet another airline disruption are a married couple forced to spend their honeymoon without luggage.
Davide Marciano and Violante Manzo turned to the lawyer Massimiliano Alosco of Pompei to start an action for damages.
Their story seems impossible. Yet it happened. "What was supposed to be our dream trip was ruined by the airline, forcing us to sleep in the airport and enjoy our vacation without our luggage or any personal belongings.
The only hope was to track our bags with the airtag – a GPS locator and the absurdity is that they were at the airport but nobody found them.”
Davide and Violante explain: “We spent our long-awaited honeymoon without any of our luggage or any personal effects and were catapulted into an odyssey of delays and cancellations.
Spending the entire trip without any of our personal effects that were inside our lost luggage. The only hope was a GPS locator but despite this no one was able to find them. In fact these were returned only after a week of ruined vacation.
The Odyssey began with the British Airways flight on August 1, 2024 on the connecting route from Naples-London-New York. Due to the delay of the flight departing from Naples we missed the connection to London. And here begins our ordeal!! Hours and hours of waiting. Endless lines, no assistance. All the passengers on our flight were experiencing the same misadventure.
Only after long and exhausting protests did they re-protect us but by sending us back!? Yes, they sent us back to Italy!! From there - at the Rome airport - we would have taken a flight to New York. But in the meantime our luggage? Well, it was lost (all our luggage, including the hand luggage that they had made us board) was not on the flight to New York but was there in London.
The Lost and Found office reported them as lost, but a little trick – having inserted a GPS locator inside them – allowed us to know their exact position. They were in London, but no one knew where to find them.
In the meantime we were forced to sleep at the airport. That night was totally different from the one we had expected… Back in Italy we finally arrived in New York but the luggage was still lost.
The tracker told us that our luggage was now in Italy! And we were in America. So our dreamed honeymoon continued without any of our personal effects. All the selected clothes that we had imagined in the various iconic places of New York were not at our disposal.
All our personal effects were in the luggage, we had nothing with us. In the meantime, the luggage was then returned to us only after a week of inconvenience, with the holiday already ruined”.
