The soldiers of the Carabinieri Forestry Unit of marcianise (CE), during a service aimed at combating the illegal transportation of waste in the context of the environmental emergency known as “Land of Fires”, they intercepted a truck on Provincial Road no. 19, in the territory of Orta di Atella.
The vehicle, with its rear cargo box uncovered, was visibly transporting special waste consisting of plastic materials.
The Carabinieri immediately stopped the truck, verifying that the load consisted of worn and damaged channels, used for agricultural irrigation, with an estimated volume of approximately 4 cubic meters.
The immediate investigation revealed that the truck was not registered in the Register of Environmental Managers for the transport of waste and that it was not possible to trace the origin and destination of the waste itself.
This situation configured the crime of illegal management of non-hazardous special waste, since the transport was carried out with an unauthorized truck. Consequently, the military proceeded with the preventive seizure of the vehicle, the waste and the registration document, and reported the driver at liberty.
Agricultural waste is frequently dumped illegally on isolated country roads, where it is often set on fire to facilitate disposal.
