The awareness campaign for blood donation at Cardarelli Hospital in Naples continues unabated.
The shortage primarily affects group 0 (positive and negative), but supplies of group A and negative B are also low. This is a nationwide shortage, affecting facilities in all regions of Italy at this particular time of year.
Hence the Management's invitation to the departments to raise awareness among patients' families and hospital staff about donating blood in Pavilion E, where the Cardarelli Blood Donation Center is located.
The awareness campaign to raise awareness of donations promoted by Cardarelli since the beginning of the summer has given satisfactory results: many have become donors, going to the Transfusion center of the hospital or in the mobile centers of the affiliated voluntary associations.
Despite this, the great need for blood continues, especially given the summer season.

Cardarelli's call: more blood is needed
Cardarelli Hospital needs at least 120 blood bags per day, and in the last few hours, the arrival of these supplies has been insufficient to address the critical issues currently affecting the hospital: surgical procedures, transfusion therapies, and lifesaving treatments.
Specifically, 58 bags arrived on August 19th and 28 on August 18th, while previously—also due to the campaign launched by the hospital on social media—the numbers had been higher: 135 bags on August 9th and 107 on August 13th.
Donating blood is simple, safe, takes just a few minutes, and poses no problems whatsoever. It's a life-saving gesture and can be done by anyone in good health, between the ages of 18 and 70, and weighing more than 50 kg.
All donors receive free blood tests and, for those who choose to donate at Cardarelli: parking at the hospital is guaranteed. In addition, those who donate are entitled by law to a day off from work.
The Hospital's Blood Donation Center is located on the ground floor of Pavilion E and is open Monday to Saturday from 8.00:12.00 am to XNUMX:XNUMX pm.
