The city of Pompeii could soon prepare to welcome a special guest: His Holiness, Pope Francis. The pontiff could indeed arrive for a visit next January.
The announcement was made by the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, during a Facebook live broadcast.

The transport company Eav is currently busy renovating the square in front of the Sanctuary of Pompeii and creating a new 300-space car park, right in the heart of the city. A series of interventions which, if the papal visit is confirmed, will contribute to making the event even more significant for the local community and the pilgrims expected from all over Italy.
