Closures of the Vesuviana: a disaster waiting to happen. Two months after the work, EAV has still not informed commuters about the progress. The committees are calling for transparency and a detailed plan to restore service.
The only evidence is the visual one from commuters who were able to see the work done in the Nola station, the hedges cut in Sperone as well as in Casalnuovo, where, moreover, they did not cut down the tall trees that are dangerous for the overhead line and occupied the sides of the tracks with the cut brushwood, thus leaving the railway line at risk.
This is what Enzo Ciniglio, spokesperson for the "No to Circumvesuviana Train Cuts" committee, wrote in a statement; Salvatore Ferraro, spokesperson for the Circumvesuviana-Eav committee; Salvatore Alaia, president of the E (a)vitiamolo committee; and Marcello Fabbrocini, president of the Cifariello Ets committee.
"From the closure of the Naples-Baiano and Naples-San Giorgio lines from July 10st to September 11th and the reduction in services on the Sarno line - the press release continues - just a few weeks before the start of school and a few days before returning from holidays, thousands of commuters on the Vesuvian lines are unaware of the extent of the service that will be guaranteed to them from September XNUMXth onwards".

For the committee representatives, "the situation is embarrassing, and if the rumors that the two lines have been postponed by a day are true, it's truly serious that EAV hasn't felt the need to officially communicate this to travelers.
Just as it is serious not to have convened a meeting with the associations to discuss the complete reorganization of the service on all the Vesuvian lines, given the shortage of trains and the antiquated condition of those in service."
For these reasons, the organizations that protect commuters "ask EAV to make public the analytical report of the work carried out on the Naples-Baiano and Naples-San Giorgio lines, the number of ETRs available, the number of train personnel serving on the Vesuvian lines, and the number required to cover the shifts, given that despite the closure of the two lines and the reduction in services on the Sarno line, even during the summer period there were cancellations due to lack of equipment and/or personnel, as well as for unspecified technical reasons."
