During the night between Friday and Saturday, officers from the Scampia Police Station, during their territorial control service, following a report received by the local Operations Room, intervened in Via Janfolla, on the corner of Via Miano , following a report of two young robbery victims.
The police officers, who arrived on the scene, learned that two brothers, while riding a scooter, had been approached by a group of peers, also riding scooters, who, after physically attacking them, including with the use of a telescopic truncheon, had taken possession of the cell phone of one of the two and of the motorcycle.
Subsequently, the robbers, using the stolen phone, contacted the other brother, via an instant messaging app, asking them for a large sum of money to return the stolen goods.
The immediate investigative activity, carried out by the agents of the local police station, allowed the preparation of surveillance and control services aimed at identifying the perpetrators of the crimes.
Therefore, the operators showed up at the pre-arranged location for the exchange, in the Piscinola subway parking lot, where, once they had identified the alleged perpetrators, they reached them, blocked them and found them in possession of the stolen phone and a set of keys which later turned out to be those of the stolen vehicle which the police then recovered.
Furthermore, from the subsequent activities carried out by the officers it emerged that the stolen vehicle was the proceeds of a theft.
For these reasons, the suspects, identified as two Neapolitans aged 18 and 19, were arrested for robbery and attempted extortion, while the two brothers were reported for receiving stolen goods; finally, the scooter was returned to its rightful owner.
