This afternoon at the Viminale, the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, together with the Undersecretary Nicola Molteni, chaired a meeting on security in metropolitan areas which was attended by the mayors, prefects and police chiefs of Rome, Milan and Naples.
On this occasion, the minister announced the establishment of the "Polmetro," specialized sections of the State Police that will operate on the subway lines of the three major cities, guarding platforms and trains.
Furthermore, the Minister of the Interior has announced a further strengthening of the presence of police forces in large shopping centres.

As for the police force, since the beginning of 2023, a total of 3857 units have been assigned to Rome, 1653 to Milan and 1314 to Naples.
116 soldiers are also arriving in Naples for "safe stations."
As part of the operation "safe stations", the Army soldiers assigned were 205 in Rome, 174 in Milan and 116 in Naples with the aim of guarding both the stations and the surrounding urban areas.
