Over the past week, the Campania Railway Police Department has been heavily engaged in ensuring the safety of travellers, companions and railway company operators who crowded the region's stations during the August bank holiday.
The activities focused mainly on the surveillance of railway stations and lines, through patrols and checks both inside railway facilities and on board trains.
During the operations, which took place between August 14 and 23, the officers identified 11.000 people, of whom 1.530 had a police record, and reported 9 people for various crimes. In addition, 19 fines were issued, of which 15 for violations of the Railway Police regulations.
A significant incident occurred on August 18, when a 40-year-old French citizen was arrested for theft after stealing a smartphone from an Asian tourist in the Food Hall of the Central Station of Naples. The device was later returned to its rightful owner.
