Counterfeit 50-euro notes, an axe, and a knife: these are the results of a seizure carried out by the Guardia di Finanza from two individuals originally from Campania, one of whom had a criminal record.
The two, vacationing at a hotel in Melendugno, Salento, were arrested during a local economic control operation. The operation focused on the spending of counterfeit banknotes and the illegal possession of knives.
After a targeted investigative activity, conducted by the Green Berets of the Lecce Group and the military of the Otranto Company, the two were caught red-handed while using the counterfeit banknotes.
Following a search of their rooms and respective cars, six more banknotes of the same denomination were found, as well as a knife and an axe.
All the material was seized, and the two were reported to the judicial authorities for counterfeiting, spending and introducing counterfeit currency into the country, receiving stolen goods, and illegally carrying weapons. The weapons and banknotes, six denominations of 50 euros each, were seized and placed at the disposal of the investigating authorities.
