Salerno. The Angelo Foundation Vassal Mayor Pescatore "demands the immediate resignation of Franco Alfieri from his position as President of the Province of Salerno.

The recent revelations by the Court of Auditors, Regional Section for Campania, which led to the conviction of three provincial employees and Banca BPR SPA (formerly Campania) for financial damages of over €6,3 million, are just the latest chapter in a story of mismanagement that can no longer be ignored.

The Foundation announced this in a statement. "Sentence number 430, filed on August 19, 2024, concerns transactions dating back to the period 2008-2010, the subject of seven complaints by Angelo Vassallo," said Dario Vassallo, president of the Foundation.

The Court found that large sums had been paid for public works that had never been carried out or had already been paid for, using false payment receipts.

Faced with such evidence, it is unacceptable that Franco Alfieri, at the time Councillor for Public Works for the Province of Salerno, continues to deny any responsibility, declaring that he has never seen those reports."

"Today, Alfieri is also involved in an investigation by the Court of Auditors that revealed a debt of over €40 million at the Municipality of Capaccio-Paestum," he continues, "where he serves as mayor. It is clear that we are faced with opaque and irresponsible management, which requires an immediate response.

We cannot accept that responsibility be reduced to a few individuals, leaving the bodies that approved these operations unpunished. The Provincial Council and the Board of Auditors are jointly responsible for what happened. The Angelo Vassallo Foundation demands that all those involved be held accountable for their actions.

"Franco Alfieri must resign," Vassallo concluded. "It's the only way to restore credibility and transparency to the institutions he represents. The Foundation will continue to fight for truth and justice, as Angelo Vassallo has always done."
