The Supervisory Magistrate of Avellino, accepting the request of the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, released Massimo Venosa, 47 years old from San Cipriano D'Aversa.
The criminal is considered a prominent member of the Casalesi clan, in particular of the Schiavone-Venosa group.
Venosa, who was detained in the Benevento prison, after being detained in the Sulmona prison and then released in 2022, was originally arrested on February 24, 2020 following a final sentence of 10 years in prison for mafia-style criminal association, drug trafficking aggravated by mafia methods, extortion and racketeering.
The investigations were supported by wiretaps, environmental wiretaps, stakeouts and the collaboration of some informants, in particular the informant boss Raffaele Venosa, pro-tempore regent of the Casalesi Clan, who during his collaboration with justice, outlined the figure of his relative Massimo Venosa, as a prominent element of the Casalesi Clan.
And according to which he acted as promoter of the clan's drug trafficking and managed extortion, racketeering of businesses and traders and entire drug dealing areas including that of Casale di Principe up to Sannio and Irpinia.
The maxi-blitz in which Massimo Venosa was involved also led to the arrest of Walter Schiavone, son of the super-boss Francesco Schiavone alias “Sandokan”.
As previously recalled, when he was in the maximum security prison of Sulmona, he had already been released from prison by the Surveillance Court of L'Aquila due to the incompatibility of his state of health with prison.
Subsequently, the Surveillance Court of Naples, in its review, had deemed the incompatibility non-existent, ordering his arrest again. Subsequently, the Supreme Court of Cassation, accepting the appeal of the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, annulled the order of the Surveillance Court of Naples that rejected the request for Venosa's release for serious health reasons.
Today the Avellino Supervisory Magistrate, accepting the request of the Lawyer Vittorio Fucci, released the boss Massimo Venosa, granting him house arrest.
