Naples, 29 total tax evaders discovered: assets worth 5,5 million euros seized

The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples, on the occasion of the summer season, has ordered, in the metropolitan area of ​​Naples, a strengthening of the device for the prevention and contrast of phenomena of economic and financial illegality, in particular in locations with a high tourist vocation.

On the day of Ferragosto alone, in accordance with the prefectural directives aimed at implementing public safety measures, 38 patrols were employed in economic control services of the territory.

The intensification concerned, among other things, the fight against illegal commercial activity, “undeclared” housing rentals, “undeclared work”, counterfeiting and the sale of unsafe products.

In particular, since the beginning of the summer, financiers have:

- carried out 303 tax interventions, identifying 29 tax evaders, reporting 58 individuals for tax crimes, and seizing assets worth approximately €5,5 million;

- identified, in the sector of "swamped with work"

• 159 illegal workers, with an average monthly salary of around 1.000 euros - including two minors working as waiters in restaurants within beach resorts;

• 29 irregular workers (for example, for having received part of their salary "outside the envelope"),

at companies and individual firms that provide services such as boat rental, repair, and maintenance, catering—especially in beach resorts—party and ceremony planning, and the sale of plants and flowers.

The owners of economic activities that employed irregular workers were charged with fines ranging from a minimum of 3.900 to a maximum of 23.400 euros, in the case of employing workers for 31 to 60 days;

- 164 drug operations were carried out, with the support of canine units, resulting in the seizure of 431 kg of narcotics, the reporting of 190 individuals to the Prefecture, including a minor, and the referral of 17 individuals to the Judicial Authority, four of whom were arrested.

The sanctions foreseen for those found in possession of drugs for personal use include, among other things, the suspension of the driving license, passport and gun license;

- fined 7 individuals who, without the required regional qualifications and VAT numbers, were illegally practicing as tour guides.

In particular, the activity carried out by the Capri Tenancy and the Torre Annunziata Group has allowed the identification, in Capri, Anacapri and at the Archaeological Excavations of Pompeii, of people, appointed by travel agencies and tour operators, intent on conducting guided tours to groups of tourists in the absence of the aforementioned qualification or, if present, invalid as it was obtained abroad.

The expected penalty, net of tax aspects, ranges from a minimum of 3.000 to a maximum of 10.000 euros;

- 39 individuals were reported to the Prefectural Authority for illegally operating as parking attendants (this conduct is punishable by a fine of up to €3.095). About ten of them were referred to the Judicial Authorities for repeat offenses.

The checks were carried out mainly in the areas with the highest concentration of tourists, nightlife and Naples Central Station. A rate range was found that ranges from 2 euros per hour, in the most popular neighborhoods, to 15/30 euros, in places of greatest tourist interest as well as during important sporting or musical events;

- seized, to protect consumers, approximately 200 million unsafe products, over 125 in violation of the regulations protecting Made in Italy products, and approximately 53 counterfeit products, including costume jewelry, household items, cosmetics, and beach items, mostly produced in China, reporting 44 individuals to the AG for counterfeiting;

- 32 illegal B&Bs were identified in the historic center of Naples, Ischia, Capri, and several municipalities in the Oplonti-Stabia area, as they lacked the required administrative documentation for managing the accommodation (see detailed press release dated August 14);

- charged taxi drivers with 49 administrative violations and identified a person who, without a license, had used his private car as a taxi service, while procuring customers near public transport stops (see detailed press release dated 12 August 2024);

- confirmed, together with the Naval Air Operations Department of Naples and the Port Authority:

• in the Sorrento peninsula and in Capri, the illegal occupation of the maritime state property covering over 1.000 m26 of water and 6 illegal buoys and mooring posts were seized, with their relative ropes and chains (see detailed press releases of 8 and XNUMX August);

• in Bagnoli, the illegal construction of innovations in the state-owned area and illegal occupation of the 10.500 m3 maritime state-owned property, reporting XNUMX individuals to the Judicial Authority;

• on the island of Ischia, the illegal positioning of two platforms on the maritime state property as well as the illegal occupation of a (seized) body of water of 10.000 m60 occupied by approximately 30 boats, moored there at the buoy (see detailed press release of 2024 July XNUMX of the Naples Naval Air Operations Department).

The activities carried out demonstrate the constant commitment of the Corps, in the metropolitan city of Naples, to protect citizens, consumers, free competition and the full protection of businesses operating in compliance with the law.
