The Carabinieri of Serra Riccò, in collaboration with the Brusciano Station, executed a precautionary custody order issued by the Court of Genoa against an 18-year-old Neapolitan man, already known to the police, accused of aggravated fraud against a 78-year-old resident of the Ligurian town.
The crime dates back to last May, when the victim, who was at the home of his ninety-six-year-old mother, received a phone call from a person posing as a 'Carabinieri marshal', informing him that his son had been involved in a road accident.

To avoid serious consequences, he was asked to pay 12.500 euros for insurance. Shortly thereafter, an alleged "co-worker of the marshal," later identified as the arrested 18-year-old, showed up at the home of theelderly, taking 300 euros in cash and a bag containing approximately one kilogram of gold jewelry, before fleeing in a vehicle.
In-depth investigations led to the young man's arrest, while the search for his accomplices is still ongoing.
