“The main road to emergency management” following the collapse of the balcony in the Vela Celeste in Scampia, which caused the death of 3 people and the evacuation of approximately 800 inhabitants.
“It is the contribution of autonomous accommodation”, the result of "a very significant effort by the administration and then, thanks to the intervention of the mayor with the government, with government funding that will allow families who are now enduring a condition of great stress to have financial relief that allows them to overcome this difficult period".
Thus Laura Lieto, deputy mayor of Naples, taking stock of the situation of the Vele di Scampia one month after the collapse in Sky Sail.
“We are following all the Vele families every day – assures Lieto – but we come from about 3 years of work in the territory, with an interaction with the Sails Committee, with the inhabitants and with the Municipality. So we have a very close relationship with the community and we are aware of the problems that people encounter at this time from the point of view of their accommodation”.
"In this situation of great stress and social suffering there is an important prospect, which is the construction of new housing, of a completely renovated neighborhood. We are doing our utmost to ensure that this prospect is realized within the timeframe set by the PNRR."
“The construction site activity started before July 22nd is ongoing there is a seized area in the Celestial Sailing but, apart from that, all activities are proceeding regularly.
The construction of approximately 160 apartments is planned for this first building block. We will start in September, a first smaller building with 18 apartments will start first and, as the validations of the executive projects of the 4 more buildings, we will be able to build them.
All the activities foreseen by the Restart Scampia plan, which is mainly financed by the Pnrr but not only, have continued regularly. We have continued to work and we are proceeding in this direction”.
The first buildings, adds Lieto, “they are built on areas free from buildings. The program includes the demolition of two of the three sails currently standing, the Yellow Sail and the Red Sail, and on the site of the two demolished sails the other buildings will be built to complete the entire area. The neighborhood will have 433 new homes, a school, a commercial area, local services and a large green common area consisting of an urban park and urban gardens”.
