Free beaches closed in the evening from 13th to 16th August and bonfires prohibited throughout the summer Vietri On the Amalfi Coast (Salerno). Mayor Giovanni De Simone has signed an ordinance prohibiting access to public beaches in Vietri sul Mare from 13:16 PM to 19:5 AM from August XNUMXth to XNUMXth, and prohibiting the lighting of fires or bonfires on the Vietri shore throughout the summer.
The measure, explains the Municipality of Vietri sul Mare, "was made necessary by the events that occurred on the evening of August 10th and continued late into the night, where the presence of hundreds of people on public beaches caused such public alarm that 118 was called to provide assistance to several people. In order to prevent further incidents like those that occurred, which could cause material damage to public and private property as well as a threat to public and private safety, it was decided to close the public beaches from 19:5 PM to 13:16 AM from August XNUMXth to XNUMXth and to order a complete ban on the lighting of fires/bonfires of any kind on all beaches in Vietri sul Mare throughout the summer season and without time restrictions."
Vietri's mayor, Giovanni De Simone, explains: "Unfortunately, in situations like this, bad manners always prevail, and we have a duty to ensure the safety of residents and all those who choose our town for a carefree stay. What happened on the evening of August 10th has led us to take this drastic decision. We will not hesitate to take further action if necessary."
