An 80-year-old man barricaded himself in his home in Tramonti, in the province of Salerno, and threatened to commit suicide with a knife.
The man, as far as we know, is alone at home. The carabinieri, who arrived on the scene, are currently conducting negotiations to try to convince him to desist from his intent.
The Commander of the Amalfi Company, Captain Bonsignore, arrived on site. Along with him, there are a military negotiator and the Rapid Response Unit (Api).
The latter are trying to establish a dialogue with the elderly man, hoping to calm him down and convince him to open the door to his home.
Negotiations continue, and everyone on the scene is waiting for a positive outcome. The local community watches with concern, hoping that the intervention of the police forces can prevent a tragedy.
