Jannik Sinner continued his winning streak at the ATP 500 in Beijing, reaching the quarterfinals after a hard-fought comeback victory over Russian Roman Safiullin. The final score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 is a testament to the tenacity and adaptability of the world number one, who bounced back from a difficult start.
The match, which lasted almost two and a half hours, saw the Italian start slowly, with Safiullin imposing his own pace in the first set.

“It was a tough match, he is an incredible player and our matches are always tough battles”, commented Sinner at the end of the match. “Today was tough, especially on days like this, when you don’t feel 100%, being able to find a way out of it means a lot to me.”
Sinner also highlighted the progress he has made physically in recent months: “Physically I am making progress and this allows me to have greater freedom to adapt on the pitch when things don’t go as I would like. If I had to identify one characteristic that has improved in these last twelve months, it would be my physical condition”. The next obstacle in Sinner's path will be Czech Jiri Lehecka, who eliminated Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in three sets. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Monday, where the Italian will look to continue his winning streak at the China Open.
