It will be held on Sunday 22nd September, starting at 9:00 am, at the Rotonda Diaz arena on the Naples seafront, "Legality Tournament in the name of Giancarlo Siani and all innocent victims"The event, organized as part of the celebrations for the "Days with Giancarlo Siani", is dedicated to the journalist killed by organized crime on September 23, 1985, a symbol of the commitment to legality and justice.
Conceived by the Presidio Libera di Chiaia, the tournament aims to be a moment of collective remembrance and a call for legality in an area affected by recent crime. Each participating team will bear the name of an innocent young victim, including Fabio De Pandi, Maurizio Estate, Annalisa Durante, Gelsomina Verde, and Giovanbattista Cutolo, thus reaffirming the community's commitment to the common good.
The sporting part of the tournament was organized by Fipav Campania, with the patronage of the regional Coni and the first Municipality of the City of Naples. The initiative is supported by the Fondazione Pol.is of the Campania Region, together with the Fondazione Giancarlo Siani, Libera and the Campania Coordination of relatives of innocent victims of crime.
Don Tonino Palmese, president of the Pol.is Foundation, emphasized the importance of sport as an educational tool: "The educational value of sport is indisputable. Combining it with the memory of innocent victims of crime and of Giancarlo Siani means taking a double step towards justice. Through sport we teach values, and through the memory of the victims we make these values concrete in everyday actions, especially in a place like our seafront, which in recent years has witnessed numerous acts of violence."
