The Sannio Consorzio Tutela Vini is launching a historic initiative to promote the products of the Sannio region. On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 19,00:XNUMX PM, a wine talk will be held at the Arcos Museum in Benevento, presenting the new traceability system for "Benevento" IGT wines.

A Historic Initiative for Italian Wine

The Sannio consortium becomes the first in Italy to adopt a new state label for Benevento IGT wines. This important innovation aims to safeguard the wines' uniqueness, protecting their origin and ensuring the traceability of every single bottle. This is possible thanks to the combination of a physical label and a digital product passport.

Anti-Counterfeiting Technology

The new system uses labels equipped with a QR code, offering sophisticated anti-counterfeiting technology. With a simple smartphone scan, consumers will have access to the product's digital passport, which contains all the supply chain information for each bottle, as well as tips and curiosities about the most suitable food pairings. The sleeve is designed with a sophisticated coding system to ensure identification and traceability throughout the supply chain, using graphics that reflect the product's colors and distinctive elements.

Collaboration of Excellence

The new stamp, mandatory starting August 1, 2024, was designed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca di Stato SpA and Agroqualità SpA, the inspection body. An initial batch of 4 million stamps is ready for distribution.

Wine Talk Program

The Wine Talk will feature numerous industry experts and authorities. After welcoming remarks from Libero Rillo (President of the Sannio Consortium), Nino Lombardi (President of the Province of Benevento), and Raffaele Del Vecchio (CEO of Sannio Europa), the first session, titled "The System," will feature: Oreste Gerini (Director General of the ICQRF - Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry - MASAF), Salvatore Schiavone (Director of the ICQRF Campania and Molise), Francesco Soro (CEO of IPZS), and Enrico De Micheli (CEO of Agroqualità SpA). The second session, themed "Value," will feature Giangiacomo Gallarati Scotti Bonaldi (President of FEDERDOC), Giuseppe Marotta (Pro-Rector of the University of Sannio), Girolamo Pettrone (Commissioner of the Irpinia Sannio Chamber of Commerce), Gennarino Masiello (National Vice President of Coldiretti), Carmine Fusco (President of CIA Benevento), Antonio Casazza (President of Confagricoltura Benevento), Alfonso Ciervo (President of Agrocepi Benevento), and Nicola Matarazzo (Management Consultant for the Sannio Consortium).

Moderation and Tasting

Journalist Pasquale Carlo will serve as interviewer and moderator for the event. A tasting of Benevento IGT wines will conclude the evening, offering attendees the opportunity to savor these unique products and learn more about their distinctive characteristics. In short, this initiative represents a significant step forward in the protection and promotion of Sannio wines, demonstrating the consortium's commitment to ensuring quality and transparency for consumers.
