The Civil Protection of the Region Campania, in light of the evaluations of the Functional Centre, has extended the current weather alert Yellow for thunderstorms until 16pm tomorrow, Tuesday 24 September.
The areas affected, in detail, are: 1 (Piana Campana, Napoli, Islands, Vesuvian Area), 3 (Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains, Picentini Mountains), 5 (Tusciano and Alto Sele), 6 (Piana Sele and Alto Cilento), 8 (Basso Cilento). The showers and thunderstorms will be sudden but intense on a local scale and may be accompanied by hail, lightning, gusts of wind.
Civil protection recommends paying attention to the hydrogeological risk: flooding, inundations, runoff, rockfall and landslides will be possible given the fragility of the territories, the saturation of the soil caused by recent rainfall and the fires of the past months.
Mayors are reminded to keep the Municipal Operations Centres (COC) active, to implement all the measures provided for by their respective civil protection plans and to monitor public green areas and structures exposed to the stress of atmospheric agents
