First beat for freedom. With “La prima luce di Neruda”, a theatrical adaptation of Ruggero Cappuccio’s novel, the seventeenth edition of the Campania Teatro Festival kicks off on Saturday at 21 pm at the Teatro Mercadante in Naples.

A Story of Freedom and Passion

The show, co-produced by the Fondazione Campania dei Festival and the Teatro dell'Elfo in Milan, brings to the stage, with the passionate and poetic direction of the Argentine César Brie, two seasons of the life of the famous Chilean poet: that of love, of hopes and of a world that is changing, but also the season of darkness, of violence and death. A story above all of freedom. Great Italian intellectuals (Morante, Moravia, Guttuso, Levi) invoke it at the Rome station, who oppose the expulsion decree that wants Neruda extradited to Switzerland; a woman, Matilde Urrutia, seeks it, who watches and waits for her love for Pablo to be freed too. The narrative plot travels between present, past and future, between the island of Capri, where the two lovers give depth and light to a secret passion, and the Chile of Pinochet's coup, the scene of a bloody dictatorship. "Power does not forgive the ability to be free", writes Cappuccio.

An Excellent Cast

On stage Cristina Crippa, Elio De Capitani, Silvia Ferretti, Umberto Terruso and Francesca Breschi, who will urge and lull the sensuality of the bodies with music and her live singing. The show will last 95 minutes. The repeat is scheduled for Sunday at 19:XNUMX pm.

Tickets and Concessions

Tickets, which cost from 8 to 5 euros, can be purchased on the official website and, if still available, at the theater starting one hour before the show. There is a reduced ticket opportunity for under 30s, over 65s and Feltrinelli Card holders (maximum 2 tickets per event). Free admission is reserved for disabled people with a companion and pensioners receiving social security benefits.

Concrete and Multidisciplinary Support

Made with the concrete support of the Campania Region, directed by Ruggero Cappuccio and organized by the Fondazione Campania dei Festival chaired by Alessandro Barbano, the Campania Teatro Festival, which is an important part of the Italia Festival network and the EFA (European Festival Association), benefits from the contribution that the Ministry of Culture allocates to the multidisciplinary importance and quality of the programming.
