On Monday, September 16, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at NEXT – Nuova Esposizione Ex Tabacchificio SAIM in the village of Cafasso in Capaccio-Paestum (Salerno), the second stage of "Territori in Tour – Tourism, Logistics, and Sustainability in Local Horeca Platforms" will take place. The initiative is promoted by the Consorzio Distributori Alimentari (CDA) in collaboration with Bevande Vitantonio. The goal of the meeting is to share the results of a listening and local research project entrusted to the Aaster Consortium with Horeca operators, tourism services, local institutions, and industry representatives. This activity aims to outline the evolution of a sector that is increasingly important for the economic, social, and urban development of Cilento.
Personalities and speakers present
The meeting will feature several prominent speakers, including: – Lucio Roncoroni, director of the CDA; – Antonietta Di Stasi, owner of Bevande Vitantonio; – Aldo Bonomi, founder and director of the Aaster Consortium; – Ernesto Pappalardo, director of Salerno Economy; – Giovanna Truda, professor at the University of Salerno; – Carmine Farnetano, coordinator of GAL Casacastra; – Marianna Iannone, president of Coop ArcheoArte; – Rosario Pingaro, CEO of Convergenze Spa; – Andrea Volpe, councilor of the Campania Region.
The context and challenges of Cilento
Cilento, a historical-natural area located on the southern edge of the Neapolitan tourist platform, seeks a structured positioning within the growing Campania tourism. Composed of 80 small municipalities, with a total population of 150.000 inhabitants, the Cilento area has been historically classified by Manlio Rossi Doria as a "bone area", marginal to industrial development processes. Despite the difficulties, especially in terms of infrastructure and logistical services, the region has seen a proliferation of activities in the Horeca supply chain and typical local productions.
Changes and new opportunities
Despite the ongoing demographic and infrastructural difficulties, Cilento is experiencing a phase of qualification of its tourist and food and wine offerings. Today, the region is trying to transform its marginality into a strength, valorizing its vast environmental and cultural capital. New entrepreneurial initiatives are emerging thanks to those who decide to stay or return, investing in life projects linked to the culture of hospitality and historical and cultural narration.
A path towards sustainability
The CDA, which has supported beverage distribution companies in Italy for over twenty years, is promoting the event as part of its 35th anniversary celebrations. The territorial itinerary scheduled for 2024 aims to listen to and share with local Horeca operators, experts and institutional representatives, reflections and initiatives to improve competitiveness and territorial cohesion.
A lighthouse on Horeca
In recent years, the Horeca sector has been considered central to the redefinition of the sociality and economy of the territories, especially in the post-pandemic context. The transformations do not only concern innovation within companies, but also the ability to collaborate with local communities to make the growth of the sector sustainable. This means preserving human, environmental and cultural resources, as well as adequately managing urban infrastructures and services. The Capaccio-Paestum meeting represents a precious opportunity to network the various territorial realities, aiming for a cohesive and compact relaunch of the Horeca sector in Cilento.
