A successful show becomes the focus of a training program for young theater students and professional actors, thanks to the initiative of the Salerno-based cultural association Scena Teatro. In a new educational format, "Circe the Woman" is presented at Villa Guariglia.
A Revisited Teaching Proposal
Based on the texts of M. Miller, JA Webstre, and M. Wood, and reread and adapted for the stage by Antonello De Rosa, the thirty-six-hour workshop involved fifteen professional actors and actresses and students from drama schools. Starting on September 4, the participants explored the human and contradictory complexity of the figure of the evil sorceress from Greek mythology: a fiery but calm figure, mantis and goddess, mother and enemy, strong and insecure.
The Final Show
The stage will culminate with a theatrical performance on Saturday, September 28th at Villa Guariglia di Raito (Vietri sul Mare). The event, divided into three stages (at 17:00 p.m., 18:30 p.m. and 20:00 p.m.), will see the extraordinary participation of the actress Elena Croce and the musician Enzo Tammuriello, adding further charm to the evening.
The Vision of Antonello De Rosa
"Circe, the cruel sorceress, is a lonely woman“, explains Antonello De Rosa, director of the show and teacher of the internship. “She wants to love and be loved, and for this reason she becomes the symbol of the loneliness present within us, a loneliness not caused by others, but chosen as a way of surviving.”
