A total of 17 people under investigation from the Esposito-Nappi clan of Bagnoli were hit today by the precautionary order signed by investigating judge Isabella Iaselli of the Court of Naples at the request of prosecutors Stefania Di Dona and Salvatore Prisco of the Anti-Mafia Directorate.
The 180-plus pages of the precautionary order outline the criminal structure and operations of the gang led by the 53-year-old husband and wife Massimiliano Esposito, better known as 'o scugnato, and his 50-year-old wife Maria Matilde Nappi.
Among those affected by the precautionary order are his sons Massimiliano Giuseppe Junior, 21, Cristian, 33, and his son-in-law Carmine Esposito, 27, known as Sesè.
The investigation began with the murder of Salvatore Capone, Maria Matilde Nappi's driver, which occurred on New Year's Eve 2021 in Naples on Via Giacomo Leopardi in the Lauro district.
Investigators believe that the murder could be linked to the clash for control of the territory between the clan headed by Esposito Massimiliano and the clan headed by the Troncone family of Fuorigrotta.
It was no coincidence that Capone had the nickname "o' Scugnato" tattooed on his chest.
attributed to Esposito.
The investigation started from the murder of Salvatore Capone, driver of the wife of the boss Esposito
Wiretapped conversations involving Nappi reveal that she expressed grief over Capone's death and assured him of her support, both in phone calls with Esposito's current partner (Mignano Giuseppina) and with the victim's mother, to whom she specifically reported that she had invited Capone to celebrate New Year's Eve at her house, but he had declined, telling her he would be going to his mother's house, and so she had advised him to be cautious.
The investigation and therefore the order included the statements of numerous collaborators of justice, including Vincenzo Cepollaro, Gianluca Noto, Stanica Mihai Lucian, all from the D'Ausilio clan: and then the former boss Gennaro Carra of Fuorigrotta, Ciro Soverato of the Vollaro clan, Alessandro De Falco of the Giannelli clan, Felice D'Ausilio, son of the boss Domenico 'o Sfregiato.
And finally, the statements of Vigilia Gaetano, son of Antonio O Stuort and nephew of the Soccavo boss, Alfredo Vigilia 'o Nir.
