The Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Somma Vesuviana is preparing to be the beating heart of an unmissable cultural event called “A village, a church, many traditions”. On Sunday 15 September 2024, from 18:00 pm, the ancient church will be the focus of an event organized by the Office for Cultural Heritage of the Diocese of Nola and the Meridies Cultural Association, in collaboration with several local cultural associations.
The XIII edition of SettembrarArte
The initiative marks the beginning of the 2011th edition of SettembrArte, a cultural event conceived and created by Meridies since 20.000. Michele Napolitano, president of Meridies, and Antonia Solpietro, director of the Diocesan Office for Cultural Heritage, underline how the event has grown over the years, involving more than XNUMX people. “The meetings are designed as real journeys to discover little-known historical-artistic aspects, enhanced by archive research and presented in an accessible language.“, explain the organizers. This year’s theme, “Along the Stairs of Beauty,” invites visitors to explore spaces at different heights, creating a dialogue between the arts.
Artistic and historical itinerary in the Collegiate Church
In Somma Vesuviana, the event “A village, a church, many traditions” will offer an interesting artistic journey inside the historic church of the Casamale village. The itinerary will include the exhibition Mater-ia by Vittorio Valiante, curated by Elisa Perillo, and an installation by Lucas Memmola in the courtyard of the former Cutolo palace. The whole thing will be enriched by sound suggestions by the Musika Rara music academy. Guided tours are scheduled at 18:00 pm, 18:45 pm and 19:30 pm. Events after Palma Campania and Nola
On September 22, 2024, it will be the turn of Palma Campania with “Una piazza, tante chiese”, an event dedicated to the discovery of the church of San Michele Arcangelo, embellished with interventions by the Gulliver Theater Laboratory. Guided tours are scheduled at 18:00 and 19:00. The last event of the series will be held in Nola on September 28 and 29, 2024, during the European Heritage Days. The “Una chiesa e le sue altezze” itinerary will allow you to explore the attics and bell tower of the Cathedral of Nola with guided tours scheduled between 17:30 and 20:30.
