The serious water crisis that is gripping the Molise It has reached the point of no return. Due to the drastic drop in flow from the Matese springs, Molise Acque has urgently ordered the overnight suspension of water supply in 67 municipalities across Molise, Campania, and Puglia.
"The situation is critical and requires immediate action," said Carlo Tatti, manager of Molise Acque. "To prevent the pipes and tanks from emptying, we are forced to interrupt the water supply at night and, if necessary, during the day as well."
The alarm has been raised to all affected municipalities, the relevant regions, and the competent prefectures. GRIM and EGAM, the bodies responsible for water management in Molise, have been tasked with monitoring the implementation of the measures and ensuring service continuity wherever possible.
The causes of this emergency are multiple: prolonged drought, overexploitation of water resources, and aging infrastructure are just some of the factors that have contributed to the collapse of the water system.
The consequences of this crisis are severe for the population, agriculture, and the local economy. Citizens are called upon to use water responsibly, while institutions are committed to finding long-term solutions to ensure water security in the region.
The letter was sent not only to the municipalities, but also to the Molise and Campania regions, the prefectures of Campobasso, Benevento, Foggia, Avellino, and Caserta, and the Apulian Aqueduct Authority, among others.
