During the night, a note from the Prefecture itself explains, "four families in the municipality of Gragnano were evacuated as a precaution and the situation - which also involves the municipalities of Agerola, Castellammare di Stabia and Pimonte - is being carefully monitored also in anticipation of new rainfall in the evening hours".

To control traffic throughout the area, the prefect has arranged, in support of the local police, a device managed by the Highway Police and the police forces.

– Nello D'Auria, mayor of Gragnano (Naples), a town at the foot of the Lattari Mountains where a landslide occurred during the night, causing the evacuation of five families, speaks of “a difficult night”.

D'Auria announces that in the morning "letters will be sent to the competent offices of the Campania Region to request urgent interventions". Reconstructing what happened during the night, D'Auria explains: "After the rain last night, Monte Pendolo gave way and the state road to Agerola with adjoining connecting roads were invaded by earth, mud and debris.

We intervened immediately with the municipal police, carabinieri, firefighters, civil protection and volunteers who rushed to the scene, closed off the affected stretch of road and worked to remove it.

I coordinated several recovery operations on site and the evacuation of some families I am close to. It broke my heart to accompany the children out of their homes, but it was necessary”.
