The story of Palazzo Donn'Anna as a meeting place for people on the move, from the first half of the 1600th century with the viceroyal couple Don Ramiro Felipe Núñez de Guzmán Duke of Medina de las Torres and Donna Anna Carafa della Stadera, up to the present day as a favorite topos for painters, architects, artists and musicians is the focus of the event on Saturday 28 September, 10 am, of the Ezio De Felice Foundation, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2024.

The event will feature several speakers: Encarnación Sánchez Garcia of the University of Naples l'Orientale will discuss “Ramiro de Guzmán and Anna Carafa, patrons of the Neapolitan Buen Retiro”; Leonardo Di Mauro of the De Felice Foundation will talk about “Ramiro de Guzmán and Anna Carafa, patrons beyond the Palace”; Cettina Lenza of the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli will discuss the topic “Palazzo Donn'Anna in the Grand Tour of French architects”; Massimo Visone of the University of Naples Federico II will conclude with “Palazzo Donn'Anna and the painters”.
The Theatre of Palazzo Donn'Anna
“A heritage on the move” is that of the Teatro di Palazzo Donn'Anna in Posillipo where the De Felice Foundation, always committed as a generative space for meetings, ideas, studies and cultural commitment, is a place where the past and the present meet, testifying to the power of art as a vehicle for connecting people and eras. Of particular architectural interest is the Theater, home of the Foundation, which was purchased by Ezio De Felice. Thanks to a demanding and laborious architectural restoration work and the expert interventions of the architect De Felice, the Theater has returned to its ancient Baroque splendor.
Event Details
Palazzo Donn'Anna was designed and built in 1642 by the architect Cosimo Fanzago for the viceroy Don Ramiro Núñez de Guzmán, duke of Medina de las Torres, and the vicereine Anna Carafa, princess of Stigliano, his wife. Its construction remained unfinished due to the viceroy's return to his homeland and the subsequent death of Anna Carafa. Admission to the event is free until all available seats are taken.
