The HBBTV station “Napoletani nel Mondo”, broadcast on channels 68, 209 and 268 at national frequency, will be present with its cameras at the XXII Edition of “La Notte della Tammorra”. Starting tonight, September 12, at 21:00 pm, a special dedicated to the event, which took place on Friday, September 6, 2024 in Naples, in Piazza Mercato, will be broadcast. Reruns of the broadcast are scheduled for September 13 at 20:10 pm, September 14 at 20:20 pm, September 15 at 21:15 pm and September 16 at 20:25 pm.

A Hymn to the Popular Culture of Southern Italy

The “Notte della Tammorra” represents a unique opportunity to celebrate the popular culture of Southern Italy. The event, promoted and financed by the Municipality of Naples as part of the “Napoli Città della Musica” project and with the artistic direction of the musician and composer Carlo Faiello, has become a manifesto of community magic, musical rituals and traditional dances.

2024 Edition: “Metropolis Folk”

The 2024 edition, entitled “Metropolis Folk”, saw the participation of dozens of musicians, dancers, performers and singers, culminating in a grand final concert held on September 7 with the performance of Enzo Avitabile, Bottari and Black Tarantella. An experience lived to the fullest in the historic Piazza Mercato, symbol of revolutionary Naples.

Interviews and Special Performances

In the special dedicated to the event, Giuseppe Giorgio and Antonella Amato interviewed artists of great importance such as Carlo Faiello, Monica Sarnelli, Antonio Onorato and many others. Guests also included Ars Nova, Bagarjia Orkestar, Simona Boo, Irene Scarpato, Denise Di Maria, Kalima, Lavinia Mancusi and Biagio Prisco.

The Tammurriate and the Musical Homages

The event also featured traditional Tammurriate, performed by artists such as Biagio De Prisco, Antonio Esposito known as “Tonino 'o Stocco”, Raffaele Inserra and Gianfranco Ricco known as “Antichità”. The vocal and instrumental ensemble of “La Notte della Tammorra” paid homage to Concetta Barra, with musicians of the caliber of Vittorio Cataldi on the accordion and Pasquale Nocerino on the violin.

A Celebration of Energy and Empathy

Artistic director Carlo Faiello commented: “What we experienced in Piazza Mercato was a great popular celebration. This year too, “La Notte della Tammorra” did not bring a simple concert to the thousands of people present, but much more. All together we took part in a magical exchange of energy and empathy capable of doing good to the spirit”. An event, therefore, that celebrates the rhythm, the ancient song and the magic formulas of the mother earth.
