Jannik Sinner triumphed at the US Open, winning his second Grand Slam title. The world number one defeated American Taylor Fritz in three sets: 6-3, 6-4, 7-5, in two hours and 17 minutes.

Sinner is the first Italian tennis player to win the Flushing Meadows tournament in New York. With this victory, he confirms himself as the undisputed master of hard courts, having won both tournaments on this surface in 2024.

His record this year is a fairytale: 54 victories (including 22 in Grand Slam tournaments) and only 5 defeats, with 6 trophies in the cabinet (Australian Open, Rotterdam, Miami, Halle, Cincinnati and now the US Open).

In the first and second sets, Sinner closed 6-3 and 6-4 in 42 and 35 minutes respectively. But in the third set, the match became difficult. In the fifth game, Sinner raised the level, commanding the rallies and putting Fritz in difficulty, taking the lead 15-30.

However, a mistake of Sinner gifted two break points to Fritz, which were saved. Fritz then freed his arm, sending the Arthur Ashe crowd wild with a powerful smash and an incredible volley, taking the lead to 15-40 and earning two break points, which were converted thanks to a double fault by Sinner.

In game eight, Fritz confirmed the break, taking the lead to 5-3. But just when it seemed all was lost, Sinner was reborn: he won the ninth game, broke in the tenth and held serve in the eleventh.

The tension overwhelmed Fritz, who went down 15-40, finally conceding the point, the game, the set and the match to an incredible Jannik Sinner.
