Pontecagnano Faiano. A fire kept the residents of Pontecagnano Faiano in suspense last night.
Shortly before 2:00 a.m., flames engulfed some wooden reels stored in an area outside the train station, sparking alarm among citizens.
The Giffoni Valle Piana firefighters, supported by a fire truck, immediately intervened on site and worked tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to the station structures.
Thanks to their timely intervention, the flames were put out before they could cause more serious damage.
“We were awakened by the screams of the neighbors and immediately called for help,” said a resident in the area. “The flames were high and black smoke was rising into the sky. We were afraid that the fire would reach the homes.”

Fortunately, the station was deserted at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. However, the fire caused extensive damage to the wooden coils and the underlying metal structure.
The causes that originated the fire are still being examined by the police. No hypothesis is being ruled out, from a short circuit to a malicious act. Investigators are gathering witness statements and analyzing footage from security cameras in the area.
