This was announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow. The Ministry has also included two Ukrainian journalists, Olesya Borovik and Diana Butsko, in the wanted list for the same reason.

Battistini, an Italian journalist born on April 16, 1977, as written on the file from the Russian Interior Ministry, is officially a wanted person.

The reason is linked to the fact that the Rai journalist (Tg1) had followed and documented the Ukrainian offensive in the Russian region of Kursk without authorization from the Moscow authorities, therefore illegally.

Battistini was joined by other foreign journalists: Nick Walsh of CNN, Nicholas Simon Connolly of Deutsche Welle, Natalya Nagornaya, correspondent for the Ukrainian television channel 1+1, and two other Ukrainian journalists, Diana Butsko and Olesya Borovik.

Tajani summons Russian ambassador to Italy

“I summoned the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Italy to the Farnesina to express our surprise at Moscow's singular decision to include the journalist Battistini in the wanted list issued by the Russian Interior Ministry.” Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced this on X.
