But also opened investigative scenarios on the robberies carried out by the gang between Naples and the province but probably also in other areas of Italy. Now the investigators' job is to identify where.
The ambush, which took place in the context of an internal feud within the “gang of the hole,” would have seen Scuotto confront three accomplices, seriously injuring them. The motive? Probably a dispute over the division of the loot from a previous robbery.
The investigations, conducted by the Naples Flying Squad, reconstructed the event in great detail, thanks also to the images of video surveillance. Scuotto, tracked down in his home in Corso Amedeo di Savoia, was taken to prison.
According to what emerged from the investigations, the three injured, Gennaro Esposito, Antonio Russo and Vincenzo Grandelli, all already known to the police, had gone to Marco Scuotto's house on the afternoon of May 9 to discuss "business".
The meeting was probably centered on the division of the loot from a previous robbery. Ne he wounded three while the fourth remained miraculously unharmed because the gun jammed. The victims each went to a different hospital in the city, so as not to arouse suspicion and make the police believe that each episode had been separate from the other.
After the shooting Marco Scuotto had fled from Naples
The numerous cameras present in the area have helped shed light on the incident and the agents of the Naples mobile squad, who are conducting the investigations under the coordination of the Naples DDA, arrested him yesterday morning in his home where he had returned after a period of "escape" away from Naples for fear of reprisals.
Among other things, the images that incriminated him portrayed him first in action and then, after having wounded his accomplices, fleeing at full speed on a scooter.
Thanks to the identifications it was possible to discover that they were all members of a gang of thieves professionals, highly experienced, over fifty, capable of carrying out robberies, with the so-called "hole technique", throughout Italy.
