“I have always told only the truth. I am absolutely not afraid of having committed crimes; crimes are committed by those who tell lies.
I was in close contact with the minister and therefore I listened to and read messages from many people, including some who, in my opinion, blackmailed the minister. Who these people are, you have to ask him.
I can only say that there are directors of weeklies involved…” says Maria Rosaria Boccia in an interview with La Stampa regarding her relationship with the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano.
“I feel betrayed,” she continues, “by people I love: I certainly feel disrespected by Minister Sangiuliano. If he regrets the lies he told and apologizes to me with the same means he used to make me pass for someone I am not, I will certainly forgive him. I am always open to good people, I am a Christian who believes in values.”
In terms of sexism and lack of respect for Christian values, Boccia also has some criticisms for Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“Whoever recalls the values of being a woman has the right and duty to defend her own dignity, as 'the other person' – says Boccia, referring to the Prime Minister's announcement of the end of her romantic relationship with Andrea Giambruno – did when she ended a deep relationship through a post on social media after her partner had violated a feeling of love.
I wonder why I am treated with arrogance, pointed out without a name or surname. Sexist behavior must always be denounced, as she did also using social media, because a woman must protect her dignity regardless of the role she holds.
You cannot claim the dignity of a woman who has been offended in her feelings at various times, nor can you call yourself a Christian without practicing forgiveness. I limit myself to defending myself from sexist behavior.”
Sexism of which even Minister Sangiuliano is accused and which Boccia says was at the basis of the suspicions that pushed her to record and photograph everything, despite those in the centre-right who accused her "with a lot of imagination" of having recorded on behalf of third parties to orchestrate a conspiracy and blackmail against the minister.
“The minister said a sentence at the end of July that struck me deeply: 'I am a man, I am the minister, I represent the institution, in the future no one will believe what you say'.” And now “I simply have documents to certify the truth of a woman who otherwise would not have been believed”.
The explanation for the video with the glasses inside the Parliament is different: “I wanted to try them, I had just bought them. All legal: when they record, LED lights on the sides turn on. Otherwise we would have to send hundreds of Italians to trial: everyone takes photos and videos with their smartphones when they go to Parliament…”.
Finally, a denial and a challenge from Boccia to Sangiulian It concerns the golden key to the city received from the Municipality of Pompeii, which the minister declared he had initially considered of little value and handed over to the State, unlike his predecessor Franceschini who had taken it home. “The minister knew from the beginning that it wasn't a fake. Will the minister show us this key registered in the ministry rooms?”
