A joint heavy vehicle inspection operation was conducted by officers from the Territorial Intervention Group, in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, part of the Southern Territorial Directorate General (DGT). The objective was to verify drivers' compliance with road safety and work regulations.
During the operation, approximately 20 vehicles were checked, with numerous violations detected. Among the most serious, four drivers were fined for not respecting the mandatory daily rest period, while two others did not respect the weekly rest period. One driver was fined for driving more than eleven hours in a single day, exceeding the legal limit of nine hours, while another was caught driving without having inserted his tachograph card into the control device, an essential tool for recording driving and rest times.
Another driver, however, was found with an expired Driver Qualification Card, a mandatory document for professionals in the sector. The irregularities did not stop at the behavior of the drivers. Some vehicles were found to be in inadequate technical conditions: three had excessively worn tires, putting road safety at risk, while two were missing mandatory devices, such as retroreflective strips and discs indicating maximum speed limits.
