Naples. Amelia Cortese Ardias has passed away at the age of 106, after a long life dedicated to political and social commitment.
Graduated in Philosophy, she served as president of the foundation named after her son Roberto, who died prematurely, and her husband Guido, former Minister of Industry and Commerce in the first Segni government.
Ardias was also president of the Friends of San Carlo Association and, in 1971, chaired the Culture Award of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
In 1970 she was elected city councilor of Naples, and in 1972 provincial councilor.

Bassolino's condolences
“The passing of Cortese Ardias truly saddens me. Amelia was a leading liberal figure, a woman of the institutions and committed to cultural and social life”. Antonio Bassolino states this in a note.
“My father – adds the former mayor of Naples – he was a friend of her husband. I loved her very much and there were always feelings of esteem and affection between us. A hug to the family”.
