Bruno, a 16-year-old boy, was the victim of a brutal attack on Napoli after a simple verbal argument with a peer.

The angry girl threatened to send her boyfriend to beat him up. And so it was: Bruno was attacked by two boys older than him outside his school, the Caruso Institute.

The two attackers began with slaps, then dragged Bruno to the ground, hitting him repeatedly in the face until his nasal septum broke. After the attack, Bruno was rescued and taken to the Ospedale del Mare where he was operated on and admitted.

Bruno's mother, Giuseppina, described the event as a nightmare, emphasizing the fear and trauma her son had experienced. "I would not wish any mother to go through a similar experience," she said, highlighting the disparity of forces at play and the gratuitous violence of the act.

Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of parliament, commented on the incident as part of a wider social crisis where violence among young people is becoming increasingly common and accepted.

“We live in an era where violence has become a mantra of life for many young people,” Borrelli said, also recalling a recent episode in Pompeii where a boy was stabbed.

Borrelli called on the attackers to turn themselves in, saying that justice would reach them, and stressed the need for cultural and educational change to counteract this violent drift.

“This is an emergency that requires time and commitment to resolve,” he concluded, highlighting the importance of combating the symbols and manifestations of violence and crime.
