Tomorrow, Wednesday 11 September 2024, at 16pm, in the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Nocera Lower, the funeral of Vincenzo Prete, a 66-year-old construction worker, will be held.
The man was the victim of a tragic accident at work that occurred in the early afternoon of Thursday 5 September on a construction site at a farmhouse in Nocera Superiore, in via Cupa Belvedere.
Priest, while he was building a concrete wall, fell from a height of two meters, suffering serious multiple traumas, especially to the head, and died a few hours after being admitted in desperate conditions to the Umberto I hospital in Nocera Inferiore.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of Nocera Inferiore, through the Public Prosecutor Dr. Federica Mariateresa Miraglia, has initiated criminal proceedings for manslaughter, registering the employer of the victim, MF, 42 years old, from Cava de' Tirreni, in the register of suspects.
An autopsy has also been ordered to confirm that Prete's death was caused by the fall, with the task entrusted to the coroner Dr. Luigi Barbato, who will proceed today, Tuesday 10 September, from 16:15, at the hospital in Nocera.
The coroner will have 60 days to file his expert report. Dr. Mauro Perrino, technical consultant for the injured party, will also participate in the expert trial, made available by Studio3A-Valore SpA, a company specialized in compensation for damages, to which Prete's wife and son turned to obtain justice, assisted by the lawyer Raffaele Boninfante.
The investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office, with the investigations of the Carabinieri of Nocera Superiore and the inspectors of the Spresal of the ASL, will have to verify whether the construction site, placed under seizure, respected the accident prevention regulations and whether Prete was equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment.
Once the examination is completed, the judicial authority will issue the authorization for burial, allowing the family to say their last goodbyes. Many attend the funeral, since Vincenzo Prete was well known in Nocera Inferiore, and his death has caused deep emotion and dismay throughout the city.
