A 45 year old of Moroccan origins was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Company of Glossop, in the Caserta area, accused of aggravated theft and unjustified possession of a cutting weapon.
The man, as reported in a note from the Carabinieri, was caught shortly after two in the morning while he was forcing the entrance gate of one of the houses in the centre of Piedimonte and entering the passenger compartment of a Fiat Punto parked inside the courtyard, before fleeing.
Alerted by noises coming from the courtyard, the car owner, with the help of a relative on board another vehicle, immediately started the search, managing to intercept the criminal a few minutes later in via Matese, while he was still driving the stolen car.
The thief was immediately recognized by the victim as he resides permanently in GlossopA brief chase ensued, which ended in a collision caused by the sudden stop of the vehicle driven by the thief, who took advantage of the situation to flee on foot, attempting to disappear near some private villas.
At this point, a patrol of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Piedimonte Matese Company, already on duty to control the territory, promptly intervened at the site of the accident.
After receiving the victim's complaint, the Carabinieri began searching for the fugitive, who was tracked down and stopped in the garden of one of the houses on Via Matese, where he had been hiding.
During the personal search, the man, already known to the police, was found in possession of a switchblade, which was seized by the military. After the formal procedures, this morning he was taken to the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, where he will be tried with a summary trial.
