On September 5 and 6, 2024, the enchanting island of Procida will host the eleventh edition of the Concetta Barra Award. This prestigious event, which will take place in Piazza Marina Grande, was founded in 2014 to honor the great Procida artist Concetta Barra, commemorating her contribution to Neapolitan culture and tradition.
Origins of the Award
The Concetta Barra Award was established by the University of Naples Federico II, thanks to the Master's Degree in "Dramaturgy and Cinematography" organized by the PartenArt Association, directed by Dr. Fara Paolillo. The event celebrates the artistic and human legacy of Concetta Barra, born on February 11, 1922, in Procida, and is supported by the Municipality of Procida and a scientific committee composed of Italian theater critics, directors, writers, and university professors.
An Award That Highlights Cultural Values
Maestro Peppe Barra, artistic director of the Award and son of Concetta Barra, emphasizes that the Award is not only a celebration of art, but also a tribute to light, love for young people, and great cultural values. According to Dr. Fara Paolillo, the aim is to commemorate Concetta Barra's art and her connection to Procida by honoring prominent figures in the artistic and cultural world.
