The Lucio Dalla Award, now in its 12th edition, is a veritable tour of Italy, reaching Lazio this year after visiting Sicily last year and various other regions in previous editions. The event saw Roman singer-songwriter Sabrina Brodosi triumph with the song "Amori Sbagliati," written for her by the renowned Andrea Amati, after a fortunate meeting at Sanremo. Sabrina, in her third appearance, finally fulfilled her dream of winning the prestigious award, breaking the age barrier with her ever-green energy.

Criticism and Other Nominations

The Critics' Award was given to Palermo native Dario Calderone for the song "Morirono una volta sola," a tribute to Falcone and Borsellino. Previously performed at the Lucio Dalla Award Showcase in Sanremo, this song had a huge impact and is now included in elementary school textbooks throughout Italy. Other notable honors include Giovanni Usai, who won the Cantautore Award with "Glicine," and Cioko, who, for the second consecutive year, received the Radio e Tv Award with "Cado nel vuoto."

Celebrations and Guests

The jury and spectators were treated to a series of moving performances and speeches from significant personalities.

Pierdavide Carone delighted the audience with the song "Nanì" and his new production "Carla e la credenza." Cosmopòliti, winners of the 11th edition, once again performed the song "Ho dentro un pensiero," thrilling everyone with their version of Lucio Dalla's "Canzone." The judging panel included Francesco Garofalo and soprano Dominika Zamara.

A Challenging Logistics

The 12th edition of the Lucio Dalla Prize faced significant logistical challenges due to inclement weather, with all activities moved to the Piccolo Teatro San Pio in Giardino, Rome. Despite these difficulties, the organization brilliantly managed the situation, ensuring the event proceeded smoothly.

The Finalists

In addition to the winners already mentioned, the finalists of this edition include artists from all over the country, such as Lorenzo Masino (Asti), Andrea Pirro (Naples), and many others. The semifinalist category also saw a special mention for Vincenzo Pio Zagaria, who had to withdraw for family reasons.

Upcoming events

After closing the 12th edition with the collective performance of "L'anno che verrà," the organizers have already announced the next events: the 7th Lucio Dalla Award Showcase in Sanremo on February 14, 2025, and the 13th edition in Rome in September 2025. These events will continue to celebrate Italian music and the memory of the great Maestro Lucio Dalla.
