The Carabinieri of the Nocera Inferiore territorial department have executed eight precautionary measures against as many Angri fans, involved in the clashes that occurred last January 14 after the match against Matera, at the “Novi” stadium. Two of the fans were placed under house arrest, while six others were ordered to remain at home.
The clashes, characterized by high violence, saw among the victims also the commander of the Angri Carabinieri station, attacked with clubs and belts by a group of three people. On that occasion, an Angrese fan was immediately stopped and his position defined separately, with the application of a sentence upon request.
The investigations, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nocera Inferiore under the direction of the prosecutor Antonio Centore, allowed to reconstruct the events that occurred that evening. About 150 Angri fans, after the match, tried several times to get in touch with the Matera supporters, but the timely intervention of the police avoided the worst.
Despite repeated attempts to disperse the violent fans, the riots flared up again on at least four occasions. In one of these, a group of about seventy Angrese, armed with clubs and stones, threw blunt objects and firecrackers at the opposing fans, also injuring the driver of the visiting team's bus.
The tension culminated when a group of ten fans threatened the Carabinieri, demanding the removal of the garrison in defense of the Matera supporters. During this phase, three individuals attacked the commander of the station Angri, repeatedly hitting him in the chest and back. Further attacks with paper bombs and stones required the decisive intervention of the police.
