Attempted escape from Avellino prison: 5 inmates captured

Five detainees they tried to escape from prison from Avellino, including a life prisoner considered very dangerous.

The escape attempt, however, was blocked within a few hours and all the fugitives were captured inside the perimeter wall of the institute.

Just two days ago, a prisoner from Puglia managed to escape from Avellino prison, known to be among the worst in Italy, where the State seems to have completely lost control.

This was announced by Aldo Di Giacomo, general secretary of the trade union prison police SPP.

“The situation has now become a daily emergency in Italian prisons, with suicides, escapes, riots, clashes over the control of drug dealing and cell phones, and attacks on prison police officers.

The staff is exhausted and the situation has become unsustainable. No concrete initiative has been launched by the government and the prison administration to address these critical issues.
