The Trianon Viviani welcomes its youngest audiences with the new edition of the "Exercises in Fantasy" series. From September 17th to October 23rd, the Neapolitan public theater will host seventeen shows dedicated to children and families, offering a journey through classic fairy tales and contemporary stories.
A review full of stories and characters
Curated by Teatrini, an association for the production and promotion of theatre for the new generations, the festival takes its inspiration from the title of a successful book by Gianni Rodari. The program ranges from Italo Calvino's fairy tales to Rodari's stories, passing through the classics of Aesop, Phaedrus, La Fontaine, Basile, Perrault, the Brothers Grimm and Andersen. There is no shortage of adventures of iconic characters such as Pulcinella and Pinocchio, as well as shows that address current issues such as environmental protection.
First week of shows
The first week opens on Tuesday, September 17 with “Marcovaldo – Funghi in città” by the Arterie teatro company, based on Italo Calvino, with Alessandra Sciancalepore, who also directs, and Leonardo Ventura. The show, suitable for children aged five and up, talks about the importance of always being yourself. Wednesday, September 18, I Teatrini present “Rodari smart”, a poetic tribute to the great writer and journalist, author of the Grammar of Fantasy, with Marta Vedruccio and Dario Mennella, who also performs live music, directed by Giovanna Facciolo. The title is recommended for children aged three and up. The last appointment of the week, Thursday, September 19, with “Riciclando… ndo” by the Compagnia degli Sbuffi, which features Camilla Bruno, Matteo Biccari and Maddalena Esposito, directed by Aldo De Martino: an educational show on separate waste collection, suitable for children aged five and up.
The aim of the review according to Luigi Marsano
Luigi Marsano, artistic director of the Teatrini, illustrates the objectives of Esercizi di Fantasia: “Theatre offers children the opportunity to explore fantastic worlds and different emotions. This experience, shared with the family, becomes a significant moment for growth.” And he adds: “Theatre is an art that allows humanity to reflect on itself, sometimes in an ironic way, other times in a more profound way: and introducing children to this art from an early age can contribute to their personal development.”
