The death of the young tourist from Padua in Naples has deeply shocked the city. The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, expressed his deepest sympathy and solidarity with the victim's parents, emphasizing the tragedy of the event: “This is a shocking event for which there are not enough words or expressions to express our closeness to the parents. This tragedy could and should have been avoided.”

Di Bari then highlighted the urgency of a more accurate control on the urban heritage, not only public but also private, which requires greater attention. “We often focus on the degradation of public assets, but private assets require special attention. It is not the first case of its kind in Italy, but the fact that it happened with such a tragic outcome requires deep reflection. It is necessary to intervene with determination to prevent similar tragedies”.

The prefect reiterated his confidence in the judiciary, underlining that Napoli investigations are conducted with great professionalism: “The judiciary will take its course and I have great faith, here in Naples we work in an extraordinary way and there will be an adequate judicial response”. However, he concluded, it is essential that the urban heritage be monitored more carefully to prevent similar events from happening again in the future.
