Over 2.000 people attended Chiara's funeral this morning in Padua, in the Basilica of Santa Giustina. Jacobis, the young woman from Padua who was killed on September 15th in Naples in a tragic accident, a statuette that fell from above in the Spanish Quarters.
On the girl's coffin, a very simple coffin in light wood, only a large pillow of sunflowers. A great pain marked the faces of Chiara's father, Gianfranco, her mother Cristina, her sister and her boyfriend Livio, who was with her when the event occurred.
The condolences of the Municipality of Naples were represented by the presence in the church of the gonfalon with a black band.
“Chiara was remembered as a kind, sunny, generous young woman in the beauty and energy of her thirty years, so much appreciated by those who had the gift of knowing her. Her face touched in a particular way the city of Naples that amazed us with the affection and great closeness”.
This was written by the bishop of Padua, Monsignor Claudio Cipolla, in a message sent today to the family on the occasion of the funeral of Chiara Jaconis, who died after being hit on the head by a statuette in the Spanish Quarter.
"In these days - Cipolla emphasizes - in the face of such a painful loss, words seem to be emptied of their meaning and their strength. In all this confusion I implore with you and for you the great gift of peace of heart. Faith in the Risen Lord leads us to believe that Chiara remains in life, eternal Life.
In the Lord of Life and History may Chiara's face and gaze continue to shine, and may a renewed desire be kindled in us to live fully the existence that is entrusted to us, with passion and in gratuitous love", he concludes.
