Sunday 22nd September, the Archaeological Park of Paestum, a UNESCO heritage site, will host the concert event “WOMEN'S AID".
Under the high patronage of the European Parliament, the initiative was born from a musical and cultural project conceived by Valeria Altobelli, composer, artist and human rights activist. Music becomes a tool to promote women's empowerment and gender equality in all the arts.Article Key Points
Music as a Unifier
The musical group THE MUSES will perform during the event. The name of the band is inspired by the nine Muses of Classical Art. Composed entirely of internationally renowned musicians from the five continents (Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Americas), the group is led by Valeria Altobelli in the role of Mnemosyne, Mother of the Muses. This project, with a strong Italian identity, aims to highlight female talent in the world of music and art, creating an all-female community.
The Project's Mission
The project highlights the theme of gender inequality in the artistic and social fields, in line with the United Nations Agenda 2030. Valeria Altobelli, president and founder of Mission Onlus NGO, with international experience, leads this initiative. The primary objective is the eradication of violence through the cultural and artistic development of women. The choice of the Archaeological Park of Paestum and the NEXT tobacco factory, a place of women's work in history, is not accidental. The event aims to promote Italian artistic and cultural beauty by combining music, architecture and new humanistic values.
An International Project
Valeria Altobelli tells how the idea for the project was born from her collaboration in Los Angeles with Diane Warren and Sumi Jo for a global anthem to female “sisterhood.” From that experience came the idea of creating an international band of musicians to represent the different cultures of the world. The goal is to bring a message of hope to young women, demonstrating that by following your talent, you can break down prejudices and achieve great goals.
Institutional and Documentary Support
The concert event is sponsored by the Municipality of Capaccio Paestum, the Province of Salerno and the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia. A documentary film will be made that will collect interviews with the participating musicians and prominent figures in the world of music, such as Diane Warren and teachers from the Julliard School in New York, who will illustrate the difficulties that women face in the artistic professions.
All-Female Production Team
A notable aspect of the project is the almost entirely female team that will work on the documentary. Producers, editors, technicians and managers will demonstrate in the field that women can and must have visibility and prominence. This represents a significant step towards ensuring greater gender equity in all work sectors, with particular attention to art and entertainment. “WOMEN AID” is not just a concert, but an event that aims to leave a mark in the promotion of female empowerment and gender equality, demonstrating that “united, we can”.
