At least 51 people have died in devastating floods in Spain, especially in the Valencia region. Torrential and sudden rains have caused extensive damage, submerging entire areas.
Four of the first victims recovered are children, the Civil Guard confirmed. The bodies were recovered in the towns of Torrent, Chiva, Cheste, Alfafar and Alcudia, the most affected by the torrential rains, according to emergency services cited by the Efe agency. Meanwhile, army units are participating in the rescue effort.

Utiel, a town near Valencia, was one of the hardest hit. Mayor Ricardo Gabaldón described the situation as catastrophic, with residents trapped in their homes as the water rose rapidly.
Emergency services are working around the clock to rescue survivors and recover victims. The Spanish military has been deployed to assist with rescue efforts. However, many areas remain inaccessible due to flooded roads and damaged infrastructure.
The Spanish Meteorological Agency warned that the extreme weather conditions are similar to those of the 80s, which caused significant loss of life and material damage.
The government has urged residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Many people have been forced to seek refuge on higher ground due to rising waters.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that no Italian citizens were affected by the disaster.
