The theoretician of the 15-minute city Carlos Moreno will be at Napoli next October 21st, at the Department of Architecture of the University of Naples Federico II (via Monteoliveto 3, Gioffredo room).
On that occasion, the conference entitled “The 'close' city. Complex values in the human-centered perspective' will be held, organized by INU Campania, Department of Architecture, Interdepartmental Research Center in Urban Planning “Alberto Calza Bini”, Order of Architects PPC of Naples and Province.
The conference aims to explore the concept of the “15-minute city” as a transformative model for urban planning and development. A place where every citizen can meet the essential daily needs of life in a minimum amount of time.
By focusing on this model, the aim is to improve the livability, resilience and sustainability of contemporary cities.
In the morning there will be presentations by Carlos Moreno, Peter Nijkamp, Catherine Gall, Karima Kourtit. In the afternoon a round table will be organized with the participation of institutional representatives from the world of research, institutions, associations.
In particular, the work will focus on the following areas of application:
Conceptual Foundations: Discuss the theoretical underpinnings and principles of the 15-Minute City model, including its impact on urban livability and resilience.
Cultural Environment: Examine how the “15-Minute City” model can foster vibrant cultural environments and enhance community engagement within urban spaces.
Sustainability and Resilience: Addressing strategies to integrate sustainable practices and improve the resilience of urban infrastructure and communities through the “15-Minute City” approach.
Case studies and best practices: Presenting and analyzing successful experiences of the “15-Minute City” model in various global contexts, with a focus on practical insights and lessons learned.
Public debate and future directions: Facilitate a public debate to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in the application of the “15-minute city” model, promoting dialogue between researchers, practitioners and policy makers.
