A new episode of unheard-of violence has shaken the community of Angri. Four verifiers of Busitalia were brutally attacked by a passenger, enraged by a simple ticket check. The attack, which occurred yesterday morning on a bus of line 74, left the workers injured and traumatized.
Despite the intervention of a security guard, the situation escalated, forcing the victims to seek medical attention. The attacker, after fleeing, returned to the crime scene with other individuals, further aggravating the incident.
Ugl Salerno and Autoferrotranvieri strongly condemn this act of unprecedented violence and ask for immediate intervention by the institutions. “We can no longer tolerate our colleagues being attacked while they are doing their job,” says Gabriele Giorgianni, general secretary of Ugl Autoferrotranvieri of Salerno. “We ask for concrete measures to guarantee the safety of all public transport workers.”
Carmine Rubino, general secretary of Ugl Salerno, underlines how this is a social plague that requires everyone's attention: "Violence against transport personnel is unacceptable and must be firmly opposed".
The trade unions have requested an urgent meeting with the company and the competent authorities to discuss the adoption of preventive measures to avoid the repetition of similar episodes.
